Pinto Coates Kyre & Brown, PLLC, is a law firm that engages exclusively in civil litigation. Our four most senior members had previously worked at a larger firm in Greensboro that did not limit its practice to litigation. In 1994, Rick Pinto, Paul Coates, Ken Kyre, and David Brown started this firm with the common vision of practicing only civil litigation. Over the years we have grown to a firm of 13 attorneys, but we have remained true to our initial goals: To represent clients diligently, utilizing the talents of the attorneys developed by many years of experience, and doing so while maintaining high ethical standards.

We consider ourselves a statewide firm, having cases in many of the state’s counties. Although we are located in Guilford County, about 70% of our caseload consists of lawsuits pending in other counties.

We started the law firm primarily as a defense firm, but as the years have passed we have branched out, and now a portion of our time is devoted to cases representing plaintiffs, suing for personal injuries, wrongful death, property damage, and commercial and business losses. We believe that our strong experience in defending cases helps us in pursuing claims on behalf of plaintiffs, and conversely, representing plaintiffs provides us with a perspective that aids us in representing defendants.

Our attorneys have had the opportunity to try a large number of cases to verdict across the State of North Carolina, and they enjoy a statewide reputation as accomplished trial counsel. In today's legal environment, though, most cases are resolved through formal and informal settlement discussions, especially court-ordered mediations. We pride ourselves on our negotiation skills, and the firm's reputation as having quality and experienced trial attorneys is critical to achieving winning settlements for our clients, whether they be plaintiffs or defendants.
